When He found them
deep
in the ancient dark garden
deep
in evil's finest black hour
deep
in slumber blind full to
fear
He saw us
in the sleeping faces
of His three most true
and sighed for us all
deep.
When He found them
deep
in their stumbling helpless
flesh
deep
in their fist-cocked sinfulness
deep
in their temptation-blind
eyes
He saw us
in the willing hearts
of His three most true
and loved us as well
deep.
Matthew 26:26-28 and 40-41
