They Don't Have Ears
How do you tell
a hand that's always letting go
you still want it to reach out to you?
How do you tell
arms that push away
you still want them to hold you close?
How do you tell
feet that keep wandering off
you still want them to walk with?
You can't, of course
they don't have ears,
And everyone knows
only ears can hear.
How do you tell
eyes that don't see what they used to
you're still worth a second glance?
How do you tell
thoughts that forget to include you
you still want a place in their parade?
How do you tell
lips that no more long to kiss
it's still all you want to do?
You can't, of course
they don't have ears,
And everyone knows
only ears can hear.
But what about those
that just don't listen so well,
And maybe never really did,
how do you tell them?
"Seek Me first,"
He whispers well,
And all these too
Will be added to you."
