Longing for the Lost Garden

.
There is a longing for the lost garden*
that flickers in the shadows of how we
so want things to return to be,
And that flicker is teased from time
time to flare to flame by glimpses of
how things will once again be.
For we know in a time still to come,
our exile from Eden will finally end and
          we'll again walk with Thee.

Genesis 3:8

*"We all long for Eden, and we are con-
stantly glimpsing it: our whole nature at
its best and least corrupted, its gentlest
and most human, is still soaked with the
sense of exile." - J.R.R. Tolkien
