In that day
It came to pass
As promised long,
When flies and bees
Swarmed rocks and thorns,
When barbers of ill will
Shaved the hair of every
man,
When all left in the land
Ate curds to no content,
More than near came God,
More than a son was virgin
born,
And to more than a baby
did shepherds bow down.
More than any crown.
In that day
It came to pass
As promised long,
When the Son of Man
Sat on a throne
that would not end,
When the Son of God
Held aloft a scepter
in His hand,
And when Jesus the Christ
Proclaimed His kingdom come,
More than a man
rode upon the back of a
colt,
More than a criminal
hung from the beams of a
cross,
And more than a soul rose on high
while angels did sing.
More than any thing.
