As Sandy walked in her life
the call of its end
surprised her
and everyone else
who walked theirs alongside her.
The cliff's edge
that once seemed so far off
was suddenly well within sight.
As she came near her death
the cry of its finality
scared her
and everyone else
as fewer continued on beside her.
The cliff's edge
that once seemed so far off
was hitting too close to home.
But at her final feeble step
the comfort of His grasp
spared her
and no one else
for alone stood Jesus to guide her.
The cliff's edge
that once seemed so far off
now held no reason to fear.
And hand in hand they moved on
the calm of eternal life
promised her
and everyone else
who takes His hand just like her.
For Sandy, at the cliff's edge
that once seemed so far off
she found no edge at all. |
