With a knife held against
my throat
or a gun pressed against
my brow,
and commands issued to deny
my Savior's name, or else,
I want to remain silent
before my shearers
Like Jesus did.
I want to remember He said
when you stand in a flood,
I will not let the drowning
waters wash you away.
I want to remember He said
when you walk through fire,
I will not let the smoldering
flames to turn you to ash.
I want to look upon them
in love,
and with my last breath, forgive,
for they know not what they do.
