Not lying with
the other burial linen,
But left folded,
in a place by itself,
The soudarion¹
spoke volumes to the one
whom Jesus loved.
Once wrapped around
Jesus' broken head,
and having been removed,
Time and great care
had been taken to
make it just so.
Perhaps a special message
was intended, as if to say:
"It was me, I did this,
no one took me away."
Or even more:
"Don't think this is over.
We've only just begun."
And then John believed.
