"Lord Jesus, I cannot do
this!," I cry out.
"There it is," He calmly
points.
Coming to the end of my well-intentioned
self, coming to the end
of my pride-filled
sin, that's where "it" is.
It's right where
He wants me, having no other
choice, but to
humbly turn to Thee.
"Help me, Lord!" I beg. "Please!"
"There it is," the beautiful
place where
faith first comes to dip
its hands in the
stream of God's Grace to
get a drink.
Faith is the cupped hands
God gave me to
drink in all that He already
has in order to
slake a thirst I cannot,
including answers to
prayers I yet have not.
Faith is a mind made up believing
in God, in
His love, goodness, kindness,
and faithfulness
too. Faith is a heart that
knows the Father as
Abba, Jesus as Lord, and
the Holy Spirit as
Counselor.
Faith is living life in the
assurance of God's
promises and Jesus' sacrifice,
His ultimate
victory. Faith is reaching
out to God alone to
take part in all He has
planned.
Faith is the peace that surpasses
all under-
standing, confident that
God has already moved
time and the space to provide
everything I will
need to finally go back
home.
Faith is knowing there is
nothing heavenly left
for me to do other than
to follow Jesus into
eternity. And faith is living
in this world
submerged in God's unlimited
Grace to a state
of nothing but confident
expectancy.
May I rest nowhere else but
in "There it is."
"You are welcome to join
me, my friend, where
faith bends down on one
knee at the edge of
Grace, and then gets up
and then all the way
wades in." |
