God made us to bring Him
glory,
And in so doing, we please
Him.
God sent Jesus to show us
how
That we might live like
Him only,
And in so doing, we please
Him.
God wants us to deeply desire
His precious Son's heavenly
ways,
And in turn despise earth's
vanities,
And in so doing, we please
Him.
God knows that contentedness
With only what is most heavenly,
Is found through our discontent
With all that is merely
earthly,
And in so doing, we please
Him.
We have no lasting home here,
So, like Jesus, when we
do leave,
Realizing nothing's worth
taking,
Set free from this world's
darkness,
And knowing God alone is
enough,
Then in so doing, we most
please Him.¹
