We're All Homeless Here
.
We're all homeless here,
From an eternal eye.
Home's not a Manhattan penthouse,
Not a Sea Cliff condominium,
Or an Aspen mountain home.

We're all homeless here,
From the point of forever.
Home's not a St. Louis gingerbread,
Not a Florida City townhouse,
Or a Burbank bungalow.

We're all homeless here,
From everlasting to everlasting.
Home's not a Priest Lake houseboat,
Not a Sacramento train caboose,
Or a Las Vegas mobile home.

We're all homeless here,
From infinity and beyond.
Home's not the back of a Dodge Caravan,
Not the stoop of a Detroit storefront,
Or a Golden Gate park bench.

We're all homeless here,
From time never-ending.
Home is not where the heart is.
Home is not where all stories begin.
And home is not where you make it.

We're all homeless here,

From where God sits.

For when our earthly tents

Are blown far by the winds,
Buildings from His Majesty,
Our heavenly homes,
In Christ alone,
Wait.
