What we did at the cross,
whether we knew it
or not,
was lay our
sinful hands all over Jesus,
already battered and bloody,
from head to toe,
while His body hung by a mere three nails
driven through his gushing wrists and feet,
and by a single thread
suspending His waning life.
Imagine the weight
of all those sins,
ours,
tearing
the flesh wrapped round those nails,
and threatening to break that fine fraying thread.
He let sinners nail Him there,
and let us pile our
many sins on Him there,
then held them
aloft with all His might,
for His Father to see,
until the last penny of their price
was paid in full.
Imagine the weight
of that much love.
